# Metadata completeness
The title, description and canonical URL are how an agent sums up a page and spots duplicates before reading it.

## What it checks
The extension reads the page’s `` in your browser and looks for four things:
- a non-empty ``
- a non-empty `<meta name="description">`
- a `<link rel="canonical">`
- an Open Graph title or description (`og:title` or `og:description`)
A missing title or description is treated as more serious than a missing canonical or Open Graph tag, because those two are what an agent uses to decide what the page is before reading it.
## Results
| Status | When |
| -------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Pass** | All four are present |
| **Warn** | The title and description are present, but the canonical or Open Graph metadata is missing |
| **Fail** | The title or the meta description is missing |
| **Unmeasured** | The extension could not read the page (open it in the active tab) |
The result names exactly which items are missing.
## How to fix
Add whichever items the result lists to the page’s `<head>`:

Point the canonical at the preferred URL for the content, so an agent that reaches the same page through several URLs can tell they are one page.
