# llms.txt links resolve

An llms.txt should not contain links that return a 404.

## What it checks

The extension reads `/llms.txt` and collects its Markdown links. It then requests up to the first 8 links that point to the same origin as the site, using `HEAD` and falling back to `GET` when the server refuses `HEAD`. A link passes if it returns a successful response.

Links to other domains are listed but never requested. Fetching them would send a request from your browser to whatever address the site put in its file, and whether a third party’s page works says nothing about the site being scanned.

If the site has no readable `/llms.txt`, this check does not apply, so a site is not charged for a missing file twice. Whether the file exists is covered by [llms.txt present](https://labs.sitebulb.com/docs/checks/content-accessibility/llms-txt).

## How to fix

Fix or remove the broken links. Agents treat `llms.txt` as an index, so every dead link costs them a wasted request. The evidence panel lists each broken link with the status it returned.

Point the file at your own documents. Links to other domains are not checked.
